WFUNA Launches New Model UN Conference in Singapore

WIMUN Singapore offers students a realistic simulation of United Nations proceedings by using the WIMUN Approach, which closely mirrors the UN’s own working methods.

The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) is pleased to announce the inaugural WIMUN Singapore, the first WFUNA International Model United Nations (WIMUN) conference in Southeast Asia. Scheduled from July 14 to 17, 2025, the conference will be held at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.

Supported by the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau (SECB), a group under the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), the inaugural WIMUN will be anchored in Singapore for the next three editions.

WIMUN Singapore offers students a realistic simulation of United Nations proceedings by using the WIMUN Approach, which closely mirrors the UN’s own working methods. At the core of this approach is an emphasis on consensus-building—encouraging delegates to collaborate, negotiate, and find common ground in a way that reflects real-world diplomatic practice.

WIMUN has always been about empowering young people with the tools and knowledge to become global citizens,” said WFUNA Secretary-General Aziel Goulandris. “Singapore is an ideal destination for this next step in our journey—it’s a global hub with a strong commitment to education, innovation, and international dialogue. We’re excited to bring the WIMUN experience to a new region and connect with youth across Southeast Asia.”

This expansion aligns with WFUNA’s commitment to making global education and diplomacy accessible to young people worldwide. Previous regional editions have been hosted in Brazil and India, but this marks the first time the conference will be held in Southeast Asia.
