Between January and March 2025, WFUNA successfully conducted a series of Youth and Advanced Training Programmes at the United Nations, welcoming over 200 high school and university students from China, South Korea, and Greece. Held at UN Headquarters in Geneva and Vienna, these immersive sessions provided young leaders with unique, firsthand exposure to the workings of global governance and international diplomacy.

WFUNA’s week-long training programmes are designed for youth aged 15 to 25, offering a comprehensive introduction to the United Nations and today’s pressing global challenges. Participants engaged with major international organizations—including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Through these visits, students gained a deeper understanding of global efforts addressing climate change, human rights, gender equality, and other key issues.

The programmes featured a dynamic mix of interactive learning, including Model United Nations simulations, negotiation workshops, and policy debates. These activities were designed to strengthen participants’ critical thinking, diplomacy, public speaking, and leadership skills. Group discussions, team presentations, and role-playing exercises further enriched the learning experience, helping participants navigate complex international issues with confidence.

One of the programme’s standout features is its emphasis on networking. Participants had the opportunity to connect with peers from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds, building lasting friendships and fostering global understanding. WFUNA’s exclusive networking dinner offered a valuable space to form connections, many of which extend far beyond the programme. This winter, WFUNA hosted over 20 guest speakers from leading international organizations, providing students with direct access to seasoned professionals in the fields of diplomacy and global governance.

Reflecting on their experience, one participant shared:

“Hearing directly from professionals working at international organizations was truly inspiring. Their insights gave us a deeper understanding of global challenges and motivated us to pursue careers in this field.”

WFUNA remains committed to empowering the next generation of global leaders by deepening their understanding of international cooperation and inspiring action toward sustainable development.
