From January to March 2025, WFUNA successfully implemented a record 16 Training Programs at the United Nations, welcoming over 500 high school and university students from China, South Korea, and Greece, at the UN Headquarters in Geneva and Vienna. These sessions provided young leaders with unparalleled insights into global governance while directly engaging with key international organizations.
WFUNA offers week long training programs for young people aged 15 to 25, providing an in-depth understanding of the United Nations and global challenges. The programs included visits to major international organizations, offering participants firsthand exposure to the UN system and to global efforts addressing climate change, human rights, gender equality, and others.
Interactive exercises, such as Model United Nations simulations, negotiation workshops, and debates, help participants develop critical thinking, diplomacy, leadership, and public speaking skills. Group discussions, team presentations, and role-playing further enhance their ability to navigate complex international issues.
A major highlight of our Training Programs is the networking component. Participating students connected with peers from diverse backgrounds, fostering cross-cultural understanding and long-lasting relationships. Our exclusive networking dinner allows participants to build valuable connections, many of which extend beyond the program. This past winter, WFUNA hosted over 20 guest speakers from leading international organizations in Geneva and Vienna, offering students direct access to professionals working in global governance and diplomacy.
Looking back on their experience in the program, one participant said: “Hearing
directly from professionals who work in international organizations was truly inspiring. Their insights
gave us a deeper understanding of global challenges and motivated us to pursue careers in this field.”
WFUNA remains committed to nurturing the next generation of global leaders by fostering their interest in international cooperation and the pursuit of sustainable development.
