NEW YORK – Following two consecutive weeks working with students selected by the Research Center of United Nations and International Organizations and the Bank of China, WFUNA implemented its third Advanced Training at the UN: China for both high school and university at UN Headquarters in New York, NY, from 8-12 July and 15-19 July.
8-12 July Training at the UN: China
Nineteen high school students of Chinese were selected to take part in an intensive week-long program focusing on global governance, the UN system in New York, as well as briefings from lecturers on the Security Council, poverty, the World Food Programme, and the environment. Students also received a briefing from the Chinese Mission to the UN, as well as a briefing from the US Mission to the UN. The week finished with presentations from the student groups on the Millennium Development Goals.
15-19 July Advanced Training at the UN: China
In addition to the high school training program, WFUNA held a program for 19 university and post-grad students from China, who had back to back briefings and workshops on the UN system. This included a briefing from the Chinese Mission to the UN, as well as special briefings from the International Labour Organization on youth unemployment, the International Telecommunications Union, the UN Mine Action Service, and many others. The university training program also ended their week with a project presentation on the Millennium Development Goals.
