From February 5 – 9, 2018, WFUNA’s ASDG Entrepreneurship Program took place with 19 university students in New York. Organized in partnership with Yonsei University, the SEP program is designed to provide training in skills such as communications, leadership, creativity, problem-solving as well as academic knowledge. These students worked on implementing campaigns on the topic of “Creating businesses with a Social and Environmental purpose” and ultimately accelerating the achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The week-long training took place at UN Headquarters in New York City, where UN staff gave briefings on Sustainable Development Goals. The program featured speakers from SDG Action Campaign, New York Economic Development Commission, Hone Strategic, ERA, UN Global Compact. Students also visited the Permanent Mission of Korea to the UN. At the end of the week, students presented their SDG solutions to Mr. Clovis Freire and Alex Roehrl from the Policy and Analysis Branch at Division for Sustainable Development.
