New York, NY – Joined by their similar missions, the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have expressed interest in developing a strategic partnership aimed to increase their contribution to the achievement of the post-2015 development agenda and enhance the effectiveness of their respective development efforts.
With the UNDP and its partners in 177 countries and territories, WFUNA looks forward to engaging in inclusive cooperation in areas of common concern, working together in the pursuit of a human rights-based approach and socio-economic development while also contributing to the achievement of the post-2015 development agenda.
Bonian Golmohammadi, Secretary-General of WFUNA, and Helen Clark, Administrator of the UNDP, were present in signing this important agreement that will reinvigorate civil society’s involvement in UN-related conversations and the UNDP’s projects.
“WFUNA is pleased to be partnering with the UNDP at this momentous point of time in history where the international agenda for development is being redefined,” said Mr. Golmohammadi. “Our two organizations have a long standing history of working in collaboration with one another at a local level, therefore it is natural that we expand our efforts to make an impact in the global arena. Civil society’s role within the United Nations is an ever-growing one, thus WFUNA looks forward to weaving the voice of WFUNA’s constituents into the UNDP’s innovative development solutions.”
