New York, NY – The 73rd session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 73) opened on 18 September 2018. As the world’s leading political figures gathered in New York City, the 16+ Forum, in partnership with the Global Alliance for Reporting Progress on Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, the Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, and the Permanent Mission of Sierra Leone mobilized actors from member states, civil society and private sector to Stand Up for SDG 16+.
On September 28, 2018, the SDG 16+ coalition united around their collective efforts to demonstrate progress and results over the first four years of the 2030 Agenda, mobilize actions to accelerate implementation through new commitments to implement and finance SDG 16+, build the movement for peaceful, just and inclusive societies, and consolidate links to all 17 sustainable development goals.
The side-event featured an interactive panel where speakers highlighted their visions for the 2019 High-level Political forum, followed by a discussion segment geared towards generating momentum and support, including leveraging multi-stakeholder initiatives, to deliver on SDG 16+.
In looking to 2019, Stand Up for SDG 16+: Accelerating Progress for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies brought partners together to showcase successful implementation on SDG 16+ and to increase ambition in 2019 and beyond.
