New York, NY – Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015, and amidst a growing number of champions, three Member State led initiatives have advocated for efficient implementation and reporting on SDG 16+: the Global Alliance for Reporting Progress on Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, the Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, and the 16+ Forum.
In July 2019, and for the first time ever, the High-level Political Forum will review SDG 16, in addition to SDG 4, SDG 8, SDG 10, SDG 13 and SDG 17. Moreover, all 17 sustainable development goals will be reviewed by Heads of State and Government in September at the SDG Summit.
On June 22, 2018, ahead of, and in preparation for HLPF 2019, the SDG 16+ coalition organized a retreat convening various stakeholders to take stock of progress made at the national and international levels. Designed to deepen engagement among Member States and other stakeholders, the coalition aims to increase support and momentum for SDG 16+ implementation, and aimed to encourage commitments of further action, thereby building the movement for peaceful, just and inclusive societies, and linking SDG 16+ to all the SDGs.
