GENEVA, August 29, 2026 — The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) announced its newly elected leadership and Members of the Executive Committee following the completion of elections during the organization’s 44th Plenary Assembly at World Health Organization Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
The newly elected leaders will help guide WFUNA’s strategic direction, strengthen collaboration across the United Nations Association network and advance civic engagement in support of the principles and purposes of the United Nations.

Reflecting on the values of dialogue, curiosity and mutual understanding that will guide her leadership, Ambassador Bogyay shared:
“As the newly elected President of The People’s Movement for the UN I will work together with the member states and the WFUNA secretariat to defend the principles of the UN Charter, explain the work of the UN to the people in the world and connect institutions, communities, the world of academia, art, diplomacy, the youth believing in these principles. This people’s movement is related to the UN Charter which begins with the words: ‘We the People.’ Thank you for your trust, I feel privileged and ready to serve further in my new role.”
Her words reflect WFUNA’s commitment to creating space for dialogue across differences and strengthening international cooperation through greater understanding among people and nations.
The elections formed part of the governance and collective decision-making programme of the 44th WFUNA Plenary Assembly, convened from August 27–28 under the theme “Reclaiming Multilateralism.”
Representatives of 41 United Nations Associations from around the world gathered in Geneva to exchange national and regional perspectives, strengthen cooperation across the network and help shape WFUNA’s priorities for the years ahead.
The elections also marked the beginning of a new chapter as WFUNA celebrates 80 years as the People’s Movement for the United Nations. Building on eight decades of civic engagement, the newly elected leadership will support WFUNA’s continued efforts to connect people with the United Nations and strengthen public support for effective, inclusive multilateral cooperation.
About the 44th WFUNA Plenary Assembly
WFUNA’s 44th Plenary Assembly convened member United Nations Associations in Geneva from August 27–28, 2026, for governance, dialogue and collective decision-making. The Assembly provided WFUNA’s membership with a central forum to establish priorities, reinforce accountability and coordinate action in support of the principles and purposes of the United Nations.
