WFUNA Secretary-General and 16+ Forum Coordinator and Senior Policy Officer Complete Successful Preparatory Visit in Dili, Timor-Leste

WFUNA Secretary-General and 16+ Coordinator and Senior Policy Officer Complete Successful Preparatory Visit in Dili, Timor-Leste

FRIDAY, MAY 10, 2019

Dili, Timor-Leste – From April 25 to May 3, 2019, WFUNA’s Secretary General, Mr. Bonian Golmohammadi, and 16+ Forum Coordinator and Senior Policy Officer, Ms. Margaret Williams, traveled to Dili for a preparatory visit organized by Timor-Leste's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. Over the course of their visit, Mr. Golmohammadi and Ms. Williams met with various Ministers and Ministries, civil society and government representatives to discuss the 2019 16+ Forum Annual Showcase.

Timor-Leste will host the 2019 16+ Forum Annual Showcase in Dill from 11-14 November. This 16+ Forum Annual Showcase will be the third, preceded by the second held in Sierra Leone in 2018 and the inaugural held in Georgia in 2017. The Showcase aims to convene approximately 180 policy-makers, practitioners and thought-leaders on SDG 16+ from Timor-Leste, as well as from 30-35 countries globally, inclusive of civil society and government representatives, UN staff, foundations, private sector and others.

In the midst of an exciting SDG 16+ year, 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of Timor-Leste’s independence referendum. With Timor-Leste also presenting its first Voluntary National Review at this year's High-level Political Forum in July, this Timor-Leste Annual Showcase provides a particularly compelling opportunity to showcase and support SDG16+ implementation across stakeholders and partnerships well beyond 2019,
