Stand Up for SDG 16+: Webinar Recap on the Path to HLPF 2019

Stand Up for SDG 16+: Webinar Recap on the Path to HLPF 2019

TUESDAY, JULY 17, 2018

New York, NY – Sustainable Development Goal 16 on Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, its interlinkages to the 2030 Agenda, and other frameworks such as Sustaining Peace, highlights SDG 16 as both an enabler and accelerator of all the SDGs.

On July 10, 2018, a guiding coalition of SDG 16+ champions, the Global Alliance for Reporting Progress on Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, the Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, and the 16+ Forum united behind four objectives ahead of the 2019 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development to demonstrate progress and results; mobilize actions to accelerate implementation; build the movement for peaceful, just and inclusive societies; and consolidate links to all SDGs.

By standing up for SDG 16+, the coalition sought to mobilize actors and partners at the international, regional and local levels, focused on solutions, and designed a platform through which the broader SDG 16+ community could Stand Up for SDG 16+ in 2019 and beyond.

Through collective coordination, the SDG 16+ coalition successfully hosted a Webinar on the Path to HLPF 2019 sharing key suggestions to effectively deliver positive progress to bring forth a more peaceful, just and inclusive world.

In July 2019, Sustainable Development Goal 16 will be reviewed for the first time at the ministerial level followed by a complete review of all 17 SDGs by the Heads of State and government at the quadrennial summit on the 2030 Agenda in September. Everyone must participate to ensure that those most at risk are not left behind.
