This November I traveled to Yerevan, Armenia to visit the students, teachers, and administrators who are bringing Mission Possible to life in their schools. I also had the opportunity to spend time with our critical partner in the implementation of Mission Possible in Armenia, the Armenian UN Association (AUNA).
While in Armenia, I was delighted to welcome the newest Mission Possible team member, Nonna Hovhannisyan. Nonna joined the team this past month, and brings experience and enthusiasm to her role as the Mission Possible: Armenia National Program Coordinator. Nonna will deliver engaging project management training sessions to students over the next few months, providing them with hands-on support and guidance as they develop their project ideas and implementation plans. She will also be collaborating closely with the talented educators who are coordinating the Mission Possible program in each school.
I traveled with Nonna to several Mission Possible schools all over Yerevan, co-presenting training sessions for students and meeting with teachers and administrators. Many students shared their excitement about the creative projects they are designing in teams to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their communities. One team even showed us the first cut of a film they made for their project about safe and eco-friendly transportation options in Yerevan (Goal 11). Other fascinating issues students are working on include improving recycling systems (Goal 12), reducing food wastage (Goal 2), and creating quality school learning environments (Goal 4), among others. The energy of the students was contagious, and I can’t wait to see their projects unfold in the coming months!
During my school visits, I learned more about how school administrators are working hard to provide the institutional support necessary to ensure that students and teachers can actively participate in Mission Possible. It was also fantastic to see the Mission Possible teachers in action, encouraging and helping their students through the project development process.
The Mission Possible: Armenia students are well on their way to becoming global citizens and Agents of Change in their communities and the world!
Mission Possible was launched in Armenia in September 2016 with the support of the Project Management Institute Educational Foundation, UNAI-Korea, and Human In Love.
