Civil Society Dialogue with Ambassador Hoxha of Albania

On June 3rd 2022, the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) organized the fourty-second instalment in a series of monthly dialogues between the President of the UN Security Council and Civil Society organizations.

The dialogue featured H.E. Mr. Ferit Hoxha, Permanent Representative of Albania to the UN. WFUNA’s Director of Geneva Office, Mr. Aziel Goulandris, moderated the briefing, which was virtually attended by approximately 65 civil society organizations who RSVPed from different parts of the world.

The event was broadcasted live on UN Web TV and promoted on social media with the hashtag #MeetUNSCPres to allow for a participation from a global audience and wider stakeholder engagement.

Ambassador Hoxha shared the Council’s programme of work for the month of June. He spoke about meetings scheduled for the month in an effort to build on the Security Council’s agenda including highlighting Women, Peace and Security, Accountability, and the Working Methods of the Council.

The floor was then opened for questions from representatives of civil society organizations on country specific questions relating to Syria, Yemen, Myanmar, and Venezuela, as well as topics such as Civil Society participation, the Role of Regional and Subregional Organizations, and Conflict and Prevention.
