WFUNA has joined the Open Government Partnership Joint Declaration on Open Government for the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Declaration commits participating governments to take advantage of the OGP infrastructure—including the National Action Plan and the guaranteed participation of Civil Society—to help achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Calling for the support for “citizen participation in the implementation of all the goals and targets in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including decision-making, policy formulation, follow up and evaluation processes,” the declaration aligns strongly with WFUNAs priorities as we work to fulfill the vision of Agenda 2030.
In the coming months, WFUNA will be looking to roll-out many exciting pilot projects focusing on the central and important role for civil society in the implementation and review aspects of the Agenda at local, national, and regional levels.
