UN Security Council 2020 Elections Debate

WFUNA is hosting two United Nations Security Council 2020 Elections Debates in May 2020. The UNSC Election Debates will be held on an online platform; a link will be shared a few days in advance of the event. Only Member States, Observer States and CSOs that confirm their attendance through the RSVP forms listed below will receive the link to attend the event. This event will also be broadcast on UN Web TV for wider viewing. The moderators will be WFUNA Secretary-General Mr. Bonian Golmohammadi and WFUNA Peace and Security Officer Mr. Pablo Angulo-Troconis.

The first debate will be for the African Group featuring candidates Djibouti and Kenya on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 from 10:30am-12:30pm EDT. The candidate countries will be represented by the Permanent Representatives of both Missions to the UN, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Siad Doualeh of Djibouti and H.E. Mr. Lazarus Ombai Amayo of Kenya.

The second debate will be for the Western Europe and Others Group featuring candidates Canada, Ireland, and Norway on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 10:30am-12:30pm EDT. The candidate countries will be represented by the Permanent Representatives of all three Missions to the UN, H.E. Mr. Marc-André Blanchard of Canada, H.E. Ms. Geraldine Byrne Nason of Ireland, and H.E. Ms. Mona Juul of Norway.
