New York, NY — Global Action to Prevent War and Armed Conflict, the World Federation of UN Associations (WFUNA), Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, and Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) will hold a Reflection and Strategy Meeting, following the Thematic Debate of the President of the General Assembly “Ensuring Stable and Peaceful Societies,” which will take place at UN Headquarters on April 24 and 25, 2014.
This Reflection and Strategy Meeting will bring together a broad constituency of actors active in discussions regarding sustainable development, peace and security, and their interlinkages. Participants will report on the Thematic Debate, share insights, and identify areas of consensus that we agree to promote in other relevant parts of the UN system – within and beyond the post-2015 framework.
This event will include a flexible discussion format and modest follow-up structure that will support diverse civil society organizations, diplomats, and UN agencies to pursue policies at UNHQ and beyond based on select insights and proposals from the Thematic Debate. The organizations listed above will encourage and support a follow-up process to this meeting, including by organizing a subsequent event to further elaborate upon areas of consensus identified at this Reflection and Strategy Meeting.
