On November 14, 2017, the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) convened the seventh in a series of Civil Society Dialogues with the President of the United Nations Security Council at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The dialogue featured H.E. Sebastiano Cardi, Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations and President of the UN Security Council for the month of November. Mr. Bonian Golmohammadi, WFUNA’s Secretary-General, moderated the discussion that brought together over 25 UN-focused civil society representatives.
Ambassador Cardi highlighted Italy’s priorities for the month of November which include the situations in Africa, Sahel, and the Mediterranean, Peacekeeping, human rights and the rights of refugees. He also emphasized the importance of civil society engagement in UN processes. Ambassador Cardi then answered questions from CSO representatives on a wide range of topics including North Korea, Yemen, Syria, Venezuela, youth involvement at the UN, peacekeeping, among other issues.
