Civil Society Dialogue with Pakistan, President of the UN Security Council for July, 2025.

On July 3, 2025, WFUNA organized the 63rd instalment in a series of monthly dialogues between the President of the UN Security Council and Civil Society organizations. The Dialogue was held in-person at United Nations Headquarters and broadcast live on UN Web TV for wider accessibility.

The dialogue featured H.E. Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN, and was moderated by Aziel Goulandris. The event was broadcasted live on UN Web TV and promoted on social media with the hashtag #MeetUNSCPres to allow for a participation from a global audience and wider stakeholder engagement.

Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad shared the Council’s programme of work for the month of July. He spoke about meetings scheduled for the month, including a signature event on promoting international peace and security with a focus on multilateralism and peaceful resolution of disputes. He also highlighted a range of pressing peace and security issues on the Council’s agenda, including the evolving situation in the Middle East, developments across Africa, Europe, Asia and Latin America, and the important role of UN peacekeeping in promoting the Council’s objectives.

The floor was then opened for questions from representatives of civil society organizations, inquiring on Haiti, Myanmar, Gaza, as well as the Women, Peace and Security agenda. In his commentary, the Ambassador stressed the need to return to the main tenets of the United Nations. Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad closed the Dialogue with an open invitation to civil society to reach out to the mission to continue to find ways to collaborate.
