A step-by-step roadmap for running the four-session UNEA mini-Model UN simulation. This guide ensures educators can manage time effectively, keep students engaged and connect classroom activities to UN values and the Sustainable Development Goals.

What’s inside:

  • Session 1 | Introduction to the UN: Icebreaker activity on consensus, overview of the UN and UNEA, introduction to marine plastics and microplastics, country role assignments and homework research tasks.
  • Session 2 | Research & Preparation: Guided research, drafting of opening statements, public speaking practice and planning proposed amendments to the Zero Draft resolution.
  • Session 3 | Statements & Negotiation: Delivery of 1-minute country statements, line-by-line review of the Zero Draft resolution, and preparation for amendment debates.
  • Session 4 | Debate & Reflection: Debate of amendments, adoption of the resolution by consensus, and structured reflection on negotiation, compromise, and diplomacy.
