The first step of our human rights implementation projects has been achieved with the submission of 12 interesting and varied project proposals. We look forward to the implementation of these projects over the next six months!

 Adi Bjelosevic & Christoffer Saaby Mandrup, from UNA-Denmark, wish to introduce Human Rights Workshops in two  Danish  universities to raise awareness amongst students. 

 McLeo Mapfumo, from UNA-Zimbabwe, is to implement a National Model United Nations in his country empowering  the youth.

 Ashley van Heerden, from UNA-South Africa is planning to set up a UPR model simulation in South African  Universities, entitled  “My UPR”.

 Jaime Merrick, from UNA-Venezuela, will use the project management skills acquired in Geneva to conduct a project to empower  marginalized communities in Caracas.

 Elisabeth Matamala, representing Spain, will implement a project aiming at reducing violence in Spain through a country-wide  awareness raising campaign.

 Naazish Sakauloo, from UNA-Mauritius, will set a similar project in her country, entitled “Domestic Violence We Condemn”, in order to contribute in puting an end to the issue of domestic violence.

 Andrea Ivarsson, from UNA-Sweden, Anne Pauna, from UNA-Finland, Ellen Van Damme, from UNA-  Belgium and Cecilie Morville from UNA-Denmark have collaborated in setting up a study trip to the Hague and Brussels to foster cooperation between their civil society organisations and raise human rights awareness.

 Alba Brojka, from Albania, wishes to fight discrimination towards Roma populations by raising awareness on their right to  education and to non-discrimination.

 Diljott Kaur, from UNA-India, will set up her “Human Rights Awareness of women in backward areas – A step forward” project, to  raise awareness on women’s rights and empowerment in marginalized rural areas in India.

 Suvania Naiker, from UNA-South Africa will participate to the efforts of the Human Rights Programme launch designed by her  UNA to encourage human rights awareness for Civil Society actors on the eve of the 2016 UPR review.

 Andrey Kapustin, from UNA-Russia, will set up a project to teach 14 to 16 year olds about practical ways to protect human rights,  team-building and leadership. 

 Lauren Wedekind, from UNA-USA, works on a Stanford University course to air in January 2015 along with follow-up possibilities.
