SEOUL – WFUNA President, Ambassador Park Soo-gil, joined UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at the 2012 International Conference on the Public Diplomacy and Culture, held in Seoul, Korea, on 26 October. Secretary-General Ban addressed the conference as a special guest on the theme of “ Peace and Development through Sports and Public Diplomacy”. In his speech, the Secretary-General spoke highly of the role being played by the WFUNA in support of the cause of the United Nations and highlighted the importance of the strengthening partnership of the UN with the WFUNA and other civil society actors. The Secretary-General was on an official visit to Korea to receive the 2012 Seoul Peace Prize.
The conference was co-organized by the Korean Association of International Studies (KAIS), one of the most prominent academic associations in Korea with more than 1,500 individual political scientists and institutional members, and the Korea Foundation. The WFUNA President Office in Seoul co-sponsored the conference.
