WFUNA signed an memorandum of understanding (MOU) Thursday, June 2nd, with the Asian Soccer Star Hong Myung Bo, who leads a scholarship foundation (HMB Foundation) for marginalized children. The two organizations plan to collaborate in preparing the WFUNA Campaign against Child Labor, scheduled to launch this December at the Hong Myung Bo Charity Match, a widely publicized event in Korea.
Proceeds from the campaign will be donated to selected organizations working against child labor, including the United Nations’ International Labor Organization. During the signing, WFUNA Secretary-General Bonian Golmohammadi commented, “168 million children are currently involved in child labor, and public awareness of the issue is crucial to the elimination of child labor around the world.”
Mr. Kwang-hyun Hong, Chairman of the Preparation Committee for the World Day against Child Labor in Korea, also participated in the event to congratulate the efforts of WFUNA and HMB Foundation.
