Condemning the Attack on UNCC in Mogadishu

19 June 2013

The United Nations Association of Somalia (UNASOM) condemns today’s senseless and inhumanly attack on the United Nations Common Compound (UNCC) along airport road in Mogadishu. The compound houses a number of UN agencies. This was not an attack only on the UN but also on the entire Somali people whose progress and development are targeted by the enemies.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims, as we pray for the wounded a quick recovery.

We are thankful for the rapid response made by the security forces of the Federal Government of the Somali Republic with support from AMISOM to prevent further loss of lives.

Our thoughts are with you.

Secretary General-Treasurer
