WFUNA International Model UN

WFUNA International Model United Nations (WIMUN) is the flagship model UN conference hosted and organized by the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA). The first conference took place in Rome, Italy in July 2014 in collaboration with the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI-UNA Italy).

There were over 300 participants from 50 different countries at both the high school and university level with a global Secretariat team from all corners of the world.

The 5-day program took place entirely within UN venues at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Headquarters in Rome and featured an intensive Model UN Workshop with UN staff and education experts. Program components included United Nations briefing, Rules of Procedure training, document writing, consensus building, and issue briefing.

With a conference theme of “The Post 2015 Development Agenda," the General Assembly First Committee, General Assembly Second Committee, General Committee Third Committee, and the Committee on World Food Security tackled issues such as the impact of conflict and violence on achieving development; unemployment for young people; ending violence against girls and women; strengthening resilience of farming systems and food supplies; and climate change.
