Situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

The situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is one of the biggest humanitarian threats currently faced by the international community. The political turmoil that began after the country's independence has yet to be resolved, and the conflict has taken millions of lives over the years. The Security Council has been working towards the stabilization of the region for many decades, and efforts are being made in order to stop the ongoing violence in the Congolese territory. The Security Council must work to elaborate new solutions to support peace-building in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through political changes that can help stop the humanitarian crisis the region is suffering from, and achieve lasting peace and development in the region.
