Congratulations to WFUNA Young Leader of 2018: to Andrea Calzada Morales from UNA Mexico!

Andrea was announced as WFUNA’s Young Leader during WFUNA’s 42nd Plenary Assembly in Punta Cana. She was chosen for her outstanding contribution towards achieving SDG 5 on gender equality and women’s empowerment. At the age of 14, Andrea formed her first soccer team in Zacatecas. With the help of private, public, and non-profit associations she developed the Rosa Zacatecas Ball Project, which promotes sport practice as an integral way for personal development for Zacatecas women.

Currently, Andrea works for UNA Mexico and coordinates the implementation of the Community Sports Project, which focuses on girls, boys, and women playing sports. This project works to integrate information on the Sustainable Development Goals, with an emphasis on SDG 5, promoting the exercise of human rights, and highlighting the importance of civic values in daily life.
