Stage 1 – Eligibility Verification
WFUNA verifies that applicants satisfy all eligibility requirements and have submitted complete application materials.
Incomplete applications will not proceed to evaluation.
Stage 2 – Blind Review
Applications will be anonymized prior to evaluation. Reviewers will not have access to identifying information, including the applicant’s name, nationality, school, or institution, ensuring an impartial assessment based solely on the submitted materials.
Stage 3 – Independent Evaluation
Each application will be independently evaluated by two members of the Scholarship Review Panel using the official scoring rubric. Where significant differences exist between evaluations, an additional reviewer may be appointed.
Stage 4 – Final Selection
Final rankings will be established using the average evaluation score.
The Scholarship Review Panel may also consider the overall composition of award recipients to promote geographic, institutional, and cultural diversity where applicants demonstrate comparable levels of merit.
Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be evaluated according to the attached rubric.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
The Application Excellence Scholarship is intended to recognize each applicant’s own ideas, critical thinking, and written communication. As such, all submitted materials must reflect the applicant’s original work.
The use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including but not limited to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or similar technologies, to generate, rewrite, expand, or substantially modify any portion of the application is strictly prohibited.
Applicants may use AI-powered writing tools solely for minor proofreading purposes, such as correcting spelling, grammar, punctuation, or formatting. AI must not be used to generate ideas, draft responses, improve arguments, or otherwise contribute to the intellectual content of the application. This approach aligns with emerging academic guidance that distinguishes language editing from content generation.
All applications may be reviewed using a combination of plagiarism detection software, AI-detection tools, and manual review by the Scholarship Review Panel. These methods will be considered collectively when assessing the originality and authenticity of submitted work. Where there is reasonable concern that an application does not represent the applicant’s own work, WFUNA reserves the right to request clarification, supporting documentation, or additional writing samples, and may disqualify the application if academic integrity cannot be satisfactorily established.
Submission of an application constitutes the applicant’s declaration that all written responses are their own original work and have been prepared in accordance with these guidelines.
Reimbursement
Scholarship recipients must remain registered and participate in the conference to receive reimbursement.
Approved scholarship amounts will be reimbursed after confirmation of the participant’s registration status and compliance with all conference requirements.
Should a participant withdraw from the conference or become ineligible under the conference Terms and Conditions, the scholarship award is not transferable and the participant is required to forfeit.
General Provisions
WFUNA reserves the right to interpret, amend, or update these guidelines whenever necessary.
Submission of a scholarship application constitutes acceptance of these Scholarship Guidelines and the Global Model UN NY 2027 Terms and Conditions.
