Young people’s contribution to the process that led to the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was fundamental in shaping the entire outcome. Labeled as “torchbearers of the sustainable development agenda through 2030” by former UN Secretary General Ban-ki moon, there are many successful examples of young people contributing to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Through the ECOSOC Youth Forum, young people, government representatives, policy makers, civil society and the private sector come together every year to discuss progress on the Sustainable Development Goals as it relates to youth development. The thematic focus of the conference is linked to the goals under review in the Economic and Social Council and the High-Level Political Forum.
WFUNA participates in organizing the ECOSOC Youth Forum, with the UN, youth organizations and other partners through the UN Working Group on Youth and 2030 Agenda.
