Global Model FAO Meet the Team

Director-General

Hongshan Duan

Diana Duan

Hongshan Duan (Diana) is a third-year Ph.D. researcher in international law and global governance at Beijing Foreign Studies University, with academic and professional interests spanning multilateral diplomacy, international institutions, and global governance.

She has extensive experience in Model United Nations and UN-focused educational programmes. Most recently, she served as Under-Secretary-General for Policy at WFUNA International Model United Nations (WIMUN) New York 2026, where she led the Policy team and coordinated the substantive preparation of 17 UN simulations. Serving at the final WIMUN conference and beginning a new chapter with the Global Model UN conferences have reminded her of the extraordinary power of these opportunities to bring together people from diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to international cooperation.

Beyond Model UN, Diana has been actively involved in international academic, policy, and youth engagement initiatives across China, Canada, Europe, and the United States. Her work has included research and dialogue on international law, global governance, multilateral institutions, and the role of young people in addressing transnational challenges.

As Director-General of the inaugural Global Model FAO, she looks forward to fostering an inclusive, substantive, and authentic simulation of the Food and Agriculture Organization.

Director of Communications

Bennett Bashir

Bennett sees photography as more than a way of documenting what happens. For him, it’s about finding the moments in between: the reaction before the applause, the conversation that happens in the hallway, the split second when a room comves alive. His work is rooted in storytelling, not to tell what happened, but how it felt. Based in Vancouver, Bennett works across a range of events, creative projects, and live experiences. His approach is cinematic withouth loosing the spontaneity of the people and the moment. After joining Global Model UN New York in 2026, he has reprised his role as lead photographer in Global Model UN Singapore 2026 and will be serving as the Director of Communications for Global Model FAO 2026.
