Despite the exorbitant prices, if you search hard enough you will find a few places tucked around the city that will offer you great food at reasonable prices. In case you want to avoid blowing all of your travel money on an expensive burger in Geneva, here are a few of the most affordable restaurants and cafes you need to visit.

    1.    La Buvette des Bains

        This restaurant is located right next to Paquis Beach which is easy to spot as it juts out into the center of Lake Geneva. At La Buvette you can have lunch for just 14CHF and return in the evening to try some of the city’s most popular fondue. Guests are welcome to sit anywhere along the beach to enjoy their meal and a sunset over the lake!

    2.    Boréal 

        This cafe is the best place to study around the city because it plays the best music, the staff are always upbeat, the seating is comfortable, and the coffee is a decent price by Genevan standards. Try one of their frappuccinos while sitting on their street side patio!

    3.    Parfums des Beyrouth

    Parfums des Beyrouth is a popular destination among the residents of Geneva. Don’t be deterred by the line because the staff fly through orders and will have the most amazing Lebanese food prepared for you in just minutes.

    4.    Cafe Syrien

        This friendly family-run restaurant offers a range of delicious Syrian inspired dishes. They have a student menu for just 10 francs, and the owner will often throw in a complimentary dessert as well!

    5.    Chez Ma Cousine

    If you enjoy chicken and french fries, or pommes frites as they’re known in Geneva, then Chez Ma Cousine is the place for you. At four locations spread throughout the city you can buy ½ a chicken with fries and a salad for 16 francs!

    6.    Cafe Creperie Saint Pierre 

        This restaurant located at the top of Old Town is known for its crepes and ambience which is reminiscent of days gone by. You can choose from a range of sweet and savory crepes while enjoying a view of the Cathedral.

On Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, you can get a taste of the international cuisine Geneva has to offer in the city’s main square. Vendors serve food ranging from Middle Eastern to South American cuisine.
