What is WFUNA? UN SPECIAL Interviews Bonian Golmohammadi

UN Special Interview with the WFUNA SG

UN Special is the internal magazine of the international civil servant of the United Nations at Geneva and of the World Health Organization. Every month, 10'500 hard copies are printed and distributed in Geneva UN offices and soft copies are sent out as newsletters to all UN staff members. In addition, the interview was also included in the Geneva International Cooperation Office newsletter from 11 June.

We are very proud to announce that UN Special's June issue features an extensive interview with our SG Bonian Golmohammadi, elaborating on our unique role as the largest international network of people who support and engage with the UN.

Furthermore, WFUNA's SG highlights our objective to assist our national UNAs in the promotion and protection of human rights for all. We do this by building their capacity to participate effectively in the work of the UN and by increasing their ability to inform and empower citizens in their countires. In this context, he mentions two human rights programs implemented by our Geneva office: So, you want to be the next High Commissioner? and Civil Society in Action for Human Rights.

In the interview, Mr Golmohammadi puts emphasis on the fact that WFUNA is entirely independent from the UN, allowing for constructive criticism with the aim to strengthen the world organization. Increasing our visibility, we have greatly invested in our communication and awareness raising efforts in the past years in order to inform the public on our mission and vision. Examples of these efforts are our social media coverage through facebook and twitter, publications such as the present interview as well as our Fortune Cookies initiatives, implemented twice in the Palais des Nations in 2013.

Through these activities, reiterates WFUNA's SG, we aim to further strengthen the relationship between WFUNA, our local associations and the UN.
