First Ever Civil Society Dialogue with Ambassador Skoog of Sweden, President of the UN Security Council for January 2017
On Friday January 6 2017, the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) convened the first ever Civil Society Dialogue with the President of the United Nations Security Council at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, continuing the momentum from 2016, a landmark year for transparency at the United Nations.
The dialogue featured H.E. Mr. Olof Skoog, Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations and President of the United Nations Security Council for the month of January, together with over 30 UN-focused civil society representatives.

NEW YORK, NY, May 25, 2016 – The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) convened historic Security Council Election Debates with candidates for non-permanent seats in the upcoming elections on June 28th. Debates took place at UN Headquarters on May 23rd and 24th—first with Ambassadors of Thailand and Kazakhstan from the Asia-Pacific Group, and second with Ambassadors of Italy, the Netherlands, and Sweden from the Western European & Other Group.
