From October 30 to November 2, 2017, 150 representatives from twenty-five countries gathered in Tbilisi, Georgia, for the inaugural 16+ Forum Annual Showcase “From Words to Action: Implementing SDG 16+ at the local and national level.” The Forum discussed best policies and practices for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a specific focus on SDG16 – Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies.
On February 4th, the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) organized the first ever UN Security Council Exit Briefing with five of the six countries leaving the Council after their two year term (2017-2018). (Please note that six countries were leaving the Council this year as Italy and the Netherlands split the 2017-2018 term).

On January 14, 2019, the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) convened the fourteenth in a series of Civil Society Dialogues with the President of the United Nations Security Council at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The dialogue featured Mr. José Singer, Special Envoy of the Dominican Republic to the UN Security Council for the month of January. Ms. Margaret Williams, WFUNA’s Senior Peace and Security Officer, moderated the discussion that brought together over 30 UN-focused civil society representatives and their networks.
Civil Society Dialogue with Ambassador Skoog of Sweden, President of the UN Security Council for July 2018
On Monday, July 2, 2018, H.E. Mr. Olof Skoog, Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations, and President of the Security Council in July, participated in the twelfth installment in a series of monthly dialogues between the President of the UN Security Council and Civil Society organization at the United Nations Headquarters.
The event was webcast on UN Web TV and promoted on social media with the hashtag #MeetUNSCPres to allow for participation from a global audience and wider stakeholder engagement.
On June 22, 2018, WFUNA's 16+ Forum, the Global Alliance, and NYU Center on International Cooperation partnered to host “The Path to HLPF 2019: from Ambition to Results for SDG16+" Workshop at Bohemian National Hall in New York.
The day-long workshop brought together key stakeholders who are working on achieving Sustainable Development Goal 16 with the goal of leveraging concrete ideas on how to take Goal 16 forward.

Laura Spano, WFUNA’s Responsibility to Protect Program Officer, served on a panel on 22 November, 2011, to discuss the Rule of Law and Protection of Civilians. The panel was part of a larger workshop put on by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) on strengthening the rule of law held for delegates to Permanent Missions in New York, particularly from developing or least developed countries.
