High School 149 became a Mission Possible school in 2016.
Mission Possible students at High School 149 worked to address the lack of trees and green areas in their city. Students originally planned to plant trees on school property, helping to expand green areas in the city, reduce air pollution and improve the school environment. After learning that the school did not have an irrigation system that could ensure new trees would survive, the students petitioned the local municipality to renovate it. The students are continuing to strive to hold the municipality accountable for its promise to renovate the school’s irrigation system and are also searching for more tree-friendly sites in the city to plant new trees in collaboration with a local nonprofit organization, Armenia Tree Project.
