On March 9, 2022, the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) organized the Peace Talk on Ukraine in Seoul, ROK. More than 30 participants including diplomats, international organization professionals, journalists, and WFUNA Peace Fellows joined the event, and around 20 College Leaders at the UN (CLUN) virtually attended the event through Zoom.

The Counsellor of the Embassy of Ukraine in Seoul, Ms. Yana Skybynetska delivered the official briefing on the military invasion by Russian Federation and WFUNA’s Partnership Officer, Mr. Kim Yongjae shared the WFUNA Statement on Ukraine issued on February 28th.

The former ROK Ambassador to Ukraine Lee Yang-goo, former ROK Ambassador to India Shin Bong-kil, and senior journalist Mr. Kim Jinho, gave speeches that described the geopolitical context and historical background of bilateral relations between Russia and Ukraine, and shared their anticipation of the end of conflict.

Dr. Shin Ethan Hee-seok, the legal analyst for the Transitional Justice Working Group, analyzed the international judicial approaches and actions of the International Court of Justice, International Criminal Court, and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. The group of WFUNA Peace Fellows, including three Ukrainian graduate students, discussed possible exit plans to stop the war and necessary international co-operation against the infringement of human rights.
